Stefan Springman has worked in the film and television industry for most of his adult life. He has also been dating for his entire adult life. After years of witnessing how much difficulty his friends and colleagues had in the dating arena, he began to develop an approach for both men and women simply called “The Program.” The Program proved so effective that Stefan used it as the basis for Can’t Get a Date, the television show he created and hosted for VH1.
In the world of television production it is exceedingly rare that someone is able to devise a marketable original concept, and then produce exactly that concept. Stefan is an innovator and pragmatist — he has the imagination to create original concepts and the technical experience to execute them.
Stefan’s forte is in knowing how to capture real reactions from people who are not actors. It is a skill that began in his years as a technician working at the highest level of news gathering (he was given an Emmy for his work during 9/11), culminating in his creation of The Inquisitor® Camera System and development of his singular interview style. Can’t Get A Date is the first example of not just a new kind of show, but also a new language in television. Its veracity is often questioned - its images are too clean and its stories too interesting to be real. But Can’t Get A Date is made with Stefan’s concept that what is real is also most interesting, and the show’s slickness is the result of a new method of capturing reality. It is Stefan’s opening statement in the domain of television, and once dating has been returned to its rightful place in society, there is a lot more to be said.
